About Me

My photo
AngelArt
Healdsburg, Sonoma County, California, United States
I have enjoyed the liberating process of plein-air painting outdoors from nature. I try to retain a sense of light and spontaneity that is often difficult to capture in the studio. With the changing light, movement, and weather, I find painting outdoors is the most honest form of painting, relying solely on the artist's skill as a painter. Plein-air painters try to capture the characteristic essence of any given day. Embracing a vista on location and watching its physical evolution objectively will teach you more about landscape painting in one afternoon, than any studio work from a photograph. Direct observation has proven to be my rewarding way to work and learn. Nature is my teacher. I paint with a limited palette in oils. My art education includes the Academy of Art in San Francisco, Cal.College of Arts & Crafts, in Oakland, and workshops with Tim Horn, J. Thomas Soltesz, and Jeanettte Le Grue. I have exhibited at various Sonoma Co. Wineries, and am currently a Gallery Artist at Upstairs Art Gallery, Healdsburg, CA, and First St. Gallery, Cloverdale, CA.
